WHEELS TURN WITHIN wheels - the engine driving existence. An infinity of universes, each one both the center and circumference of an infinity beyond. And sometimes worlds collide, so that some of us – very few of us – come to glimpse what happens on different worlds, worlds that operate under different rules. Different physics. Different genetics. Elwood belongs to such a world.
Wheels turn within Wheels. Unseen as a rule, world collides with world, and we see and feel the painful effects without knowing the cause, as empires rise and sparkle... then crumble and fade and decay. Humanity laments a succession of dark ages before the wheel turns to lift the human condition once more towards the light.
So now we live in time where one particular world, in one particular parallel universe, is bumped up close next to our own. With each bump the physics of our world shreds at the touch, sees some of us drifting shimmering out onto that world. And into a city on that world. Elwood.
Elwood has a unique physics. A physics that attracts the energy of those of us on this world suffering mental turmoil and anguish. Attracts those of us at a moral and ethical crossroads. We can hide from our problems here on our world. We can turn from them, avoid them. The physics of Elwood forces us to confront them.
In Elwood, animal genetics is evolved, so that species live and interact together; work together; fight together. And mate together. In Elwood there is no hierarchy of species. A cat or a dog is worth as much as a man or a woman. And one dog in particular has a hold on Elwood. You wouldn’t want to cross Louie the Jaw.
Elwood takes those of us that it carries from our world and presents us with the opportunity we need. We are forced to make choices in Elwood, and the choices we make define the future, both in Elwood and back here on our own. If we come back, our lives will be changed forever, for better or for worse. If we come back. Because there are those of us who don’t. For some, the most seductive mistress of all, is… Elwood
IT'S COOL TO be a dog in this world, wearing sharp suits, hanging with mobsters, getting action with slinky cats in sleazy clip-joints and holding politicians in the palm of your hand… but of course it all comes with a price, because this world isn’t our world – this world is… Elwood
